capital1The All-American Tennis camp at Capital University is now in our sixth year. A day camp located on the beautiful campus of Capital University in Bexley (Columbus, OH), we now offer a full day camp experience with one of the most respected staffs in the Midwest. Each week of camp runs Monday thru Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily. Saturdays are used as our rain back up day (in case of inclement weather).

DAY CAMP FOR BOYS & GIRLS AGES 8-18 OF ALL SKILL LEVELS:

The All-American Tennis Camp - Capital Univ. is for boys and girls ages 8-18, of all skill levels. This camp is a traditional camp, with emphasis placed on modern swing technique, stroke production, situational drill work and game play.

SESSION I - June 14-18, 2010

Costs: $385 per week / $720 for both weeks

sadhaf pervezOhio State coach Sadhaf Pervez is now in her sixth season with the Buckeyes and her fourth year as the director of the All-American Tennis Camp at Capital University.  OSU has been a perennial Big Ten power during Pervez's tenure and her teams have qualified for the NCAA championship 4 times. Prior to joining the Ohio State staff, Pervez served as an assistant coach for one season at the University of Nebraska, where they had one of the most successful seasons in the history of their program. Before helping out at Nebraska, Pervez coached the junior varsity boys' tennis team at Upper Arlington High school during her senior season at Ohio State in 2003.



While at Ohio State, Pervez posted one of the best careers in school history. As a senior in 2003, Pervez was an All-Big Ten honoree and was named both the team's Most Improved and Most Valuable Player. That same season she also was named the Midwest Senior Player of the Year by the International Tennis Association. Pervez finished her career third all-time in singles wins with 99 and tied with Kristy Dascoli for fifth all-time in doubles wins with 91. She led the team in doubles win percentage three consecutive seasons, 2001-03, and is 10th all-time in school history with a career doubles winning percentage of .659 (91-47).


STAFF: The staff of the Case Western camp is comprised of other college coaches & top collegiate players picked by Coach Wojitkowski for their teaching skills and abilities to relate to young players.

TYPES OF PROGRAMS OFFERED:

Traditional Camps (Stroke development emphasis): Our traditional tennis camps (non match play) are designed to focus on the fundamentals and swing techniques of the modern tennis strokes. Some of the areas of focus for each level include:

  • Beginners: The beginning level player will be introduced to the basics of the game. Emphasis will be placed on stroke production and the technical aspects of the swing in an effort to teach these young players sound fundamentals from the ground up.
  • Intermediate: Intermediate level players will also focus on fundamental stroke production (to insure proper technique),but will also be in put into game play situations to introduce these players to the competitive side of the game.
  • Advanced: The more advanced players will work with stroke production in a competitive environment, but will also be introduced to the basic strategies of the game.
  • High School / Tournament: Varsity high school and tournament players will focus primarily on the strategic and competitive aspects of the game. Although there will be attention spent on the stroke fundamentals, more emphasis will be placed on point progression, court positioning, patterns and sequences, percentage plays and live ball drill work.
