The Pilsen Junior Tennis Camp’s (PJTC) mission is to provide economically underpriviledged children in Chicago neighborhoods with the opportunity to achieve personal fulfillment as players, students, and citizens with the FREE introduction and instruction of tennis. In 2011 three hundred children will be introduced to the sport.

It is a great privilege and honor to work with the Pilsen Junior Tennis Camps.  They have done an amazing job reaching out to the Pilsen community and offering a first rate tennis camp to underprivileged  youngsters at no charge.  They really have worked hard to introduce tennis to kids that are not afforded many of the traditional tennis avenues.  We are excited to offer these young players, who have shown a great passion for the game, and opportunity to further their tennis development.

This year a small group of hand selected inner city youth from the Pilsen Junior Tennis Camp will receive a scholarship that will cover an overnight week at the All-American Tennis Camp at the College of Wooster site. With All-Ameircan’s specially tailored curriculum that emphasizes stroke mechanics and individual attention, this opportunity is one of many upcoming PJTC efforts to advance the tennis careers of its best participants. To date, three ten year old girls from Walsh Public School have been awarded the scholarship for their positive attitude and accomplishments on the tennis court. A limited amount of scholarships will be awarded in the next few weeks.

Today, however, I want to tell you why we feel that the REVOLUTION LACROSSE CAMP is one of the finest camps in the Midwest.  DIRECTORS!  A camp is only as good as the man or woman at the top.  In the case of our camps at the College of Wooster, we have two top notch directors who are committed to running a first rate instructional lacrosse camp.  A sample of what our camp directors approaches are is highlighted with our Boys Lacrosse Camp.

Coach Misarti’s approach to directing his boys camp is simple.  ”I am a parent first and foremost.  What sort of learning environment do I want to put MY child in.  Too many camps today focus on being “cool or hip”.  Young lacrosse players (of all ages and experience) need TEACHING.  They need to be taught the fundamentals, strategies and focuses of the game of lacrosse as it is played today.”   Coach Misarti highlights his intent with the Revolution Lacrosse Camp as follows:

”  I feel that the camp will be a very encouraging environment with a focus on learning.  I am going to strive to make this a key differentiating factor as I feel education may be getting lost in the recent push to be recruited.  The counselors I have chosen so far are great people with enthusiasm and knowledge of the game.  They will make it fun and extremely worthwhile.”
